The gala opening ceremony of Sydney’s newest road tunnel created a ballroom, pre-function space and entry experience all choreographed around complicated construction and traffic schedules. Not to mention, no surface was level, no end walls and all power, services, AV, lighting and decor needed to be brought in and out.
Connecting Sydney’s Eastern beach-side suburbs, under the wild nightlife of Kings Cross to the city and west beyond, the Cross City Tunnel promised to reduce travel time, ease congestion and herald a new flow to the city.
Our design employed Sydney icons as static displays, character performances and animated projections to colour and animate the tunnel space.
